Simple and fun
Give money in a balloon
Want to wrap money in a fun way without spending much time? Hide it inside a balloon.
Carefully roll up the banknotes and put them inside a balloon before inflating it. Add some confetti if you like, and attach a card with a short instruction, such as “Pop me!”
The birthday child can see that something is inside the balloon, but must pop it to reach the money. A simple way to turn an ordinary cash gift into a playful surprise.
02
A little treasure hunt
Give money with a mini treasure hunt
Why hand over the money straight away when you could let the birthday child search for it first?
Start with a card containing a riddle or clue. The answer leads to the next hiding place, where another clue awaits. After a few challenges, the child discovers where the money is hidden.
For younger children, use simple pictures and finding tasks. Older children may prefer riddles, rebuses and secret codes.
This turns giving money into a little treasure hunt instead of simply handing over an envelope.
03
Two surprises in one
Hide money in a sweet jar
A jar full of sweets already looks like a gift. But you can easily hide a second surprise inside.
Place a small tube or box with the money in the middle of a clear jar. Fill the space around it with sweets until the money is completely hidden.
Put on the lid, add a ribbon or card, and your gift is ready. The birthday child gets a treat and discovers the real gift among the sweets.
04
Solve the puzzle, then unwrap
Give money with a puzzle
Another fun way to give money: let the birthday child solve a puzzle first.
Create a picture or secret message, print it and cut it into pieces. Only when all the pieces are put together does the clue to the money appear.
“Look under the chair.”
To make it harder, let the puzzle reveal a code, rebus or riddle. You decide how easy or challenging the gift will be.
05
Unwrapping with a twist
Make a surprise box with money
You do not need complicated puzzles for this idea.
Put the money in a small box and place it inside a larger one. Put that box inside another package. Repeat a few times.
Between the layers, you can add funny notes, little challenges or a sweet treat.
Each time, the birthday child thinks the gift has finally been found—only to discover yet another box. A simple way to make opening a cash gift much more entertaining.
06
A surprise finale with a free bonus
Crack the code and unlock your money gift
Opening an envelope takes only seconds. But what if the birthday child first had to work out how to open the gift at all?
Place the money in a box with a combination lock. To find the code, the birthday child must solve several riddles and challenges. Every correct answer reveals a digit. Once all the digits are found, the secret code unlocks the box.
So you are giving not just money, but also a little challenge and an exciting moment at the party.
